Take part in a spectacular early morning run - and be home in time for breakfast!
This instructor-led, paced 7KM, where you'll be put into groups before you start, depending on your speed, takes place before daybreak so you'll experience all the stunning sights and sounds that Killruddery has to offer as the sun rises up over Dublin Bay.
Challenge yourself on some of HELL & BACK's infamous obstacles, including Hell on Earth, Heartbreak Ridge, Valley of Pain and Satan's Pit, as seen on Ireland's Fittest Family TV Show!

This is an instructor-led event - so you will be put in a group before you start, depending on your expected speed. There will be a Fast Group, Medium Group, Slow Group etc.

IMPORTANT: If you're looking for a tough, competitive Hell Run, this event is not for you because it is instructor-led...sign up for H&B Winter or H&B June instead!
FEET
• Trial runners are best (better grip in muddy conditions)
• Astro boots also work well
• We strongly advise you do not wear normal runners or any other footwear, as the reduced grip will increase your risk of injury
• Studs, cleats, blades & spikes are NOT PERMITTED
HANDS
• Fingerless cycling gloves are best as full finger gloves may get water logged
UPPER BODY
• Base Layer – compression top
• Top Layer – Technical t-shirt (optional)
• Wear long sleeves to help protect your arms at crawl obstacles
• Avoid cotton materials!!
LEGS
• Compression leggings are recommended to help protect legs when crawling.
• Avoid flimsy material that may rip or tear.
REMEMBER
• Duct Tape, Electrical Tape & Cable Ties are not allowed on your shoes as they come off too easily and thus become a danger to the livestock on the farm.
• Make sure you TRIPLE KNOT your laces instead.
Start Times
Unlike, say a marathon, there is not one big, mass start at HELL & BACK - instead there are a number of starting waves throughout the day with 250-400 HellRaisers in each. You choose your preferred wave start time when you register and can double check this on the Start Time Checker.
The first 7KM wave on Sat 18th May is at 05:00, with the second wave starting at 05:15 so you'll see spectacular views of the sun rising over Dublin Bay from the top of the Little Sugar Loaf!
Registration opens at 04:30 so you must register and collect your Wristband at the entrance to the Alive Outside Activity Centre and be ready to go for your start wave at 05:00 or 05:15.
An invigorating way to start the weekend - plus you should be finished by 07:30 so home in time for breakfast!
Instructor-Led Run
This unique run is instructor-led so participants are put into groups of approx. 30 people, based on the pace they want to run at (fast, medium, slow etc). There will be a number of stopping points on the 7KM route for the slower members to catch up and the group to reassemble!
Car Parking
Parking for H&B @ Dawn is free - you park onsite in Killruddery at the entrance to the Alive Outside Activity Centre.
Insurance
Personal Accident Cover is included in the registration fee of all participants. This cover may include benefits in the event of you incurring an injury.
Finisher's T-shirt
You can collect up your exclusive "I Made it Thru' HELL & BACK" T-shirt at the Finish Line.
Start Time Checker

Can I Change My Start Time?
Log into the Manage My Booking service to view the start times available and change your start time to one that is free.
Can't Take Part?
If you or a team mate cannot take part, use our Manage My Booking service to email your ticket to your replacement. Available only to Individuals and Teams that used the Syndicated Payment option to pay for tickets.
Wristband Collection
You must register and collect your Wristband AT LEAST 15 minutes before your allocated Wave Start Time.
16 & 17 Year Old Participants
All 16 & 17 year old participants must register using an special consent link emailed directly to their Parental/Guardian. Email us on registrations@aliveoutside.ie for a digital U18 consent form.
Risk of Infectious Diseases
Killruddery is a working farm so be fully aware of Infectious Diseases. If you experience any symptoms after the event, contact your GP immediately. Find out more here.
Event Village
There is a Secure Valuable Drop for your car keys in the Event Village, along with basic Changing Rooms, Portaloos and the Finisher Tshirt Collection Point. Plus make sure you pick up your complimentary light refreshments to replenish your energy after your H&B Run.
Course Closing Times
The target is for everyone to complete the 7KM course within 1 hour 45 mins so your instructor will aim to have your group back in the Event Village by 07:00.
The site closes at 07:30 so please make sure you bring all your belongings with you as you leave.
