Two hellish Winter distances for you to choose from - 16KM (SOLD OUT) & 8KM (SOLD OUT)!
Set your own pace, as this event is NOT instructor-led.
The 16KM course consists of approx 10KM trail running and 6KM obstacles (not for the feint-hearted!), while the 8KM consists of 2KM trail running and 6KM obstacles.
Some of the dreaded obstacles on the course include Hell on Earth, Tyre Zone, Heartbreak Ridge and Satan's Pit.
Plus, whatever distance you choose, you'll have to deal with whatever wild Wicklow weather is thrown at you...whether rain, wind, sleet or even snow!

IMPORTANT: If you are looking for a tough Hell Run, this is not for you...
...sign up instead for the 16KM / 10 Mile earlier in the morning!
FEET
• Trial runners are best (better grip in muddy conditions)
• Astro boots also work well
• We strongly advise you do not wear normal runners or any other footwear, as the reduced grip will increase your risk of injury
• Studs, cleats, blades & spikes are NOT PERMITTED
HANDS
• Fingerless cycling gloves are best as full finger gloves may get water logged
UPPER BODY
• Base Layer – compression top
• Top Layer – Technical t-shirt (optional)
• Wear long sleeves to help protect your arms at crawl obstacles
• Avoid cotton materials!!
LEGS
• Compression leggings are recommended to help protect legs when crawling.
• Avoid flimsy material that may rip or tear.
REMEMBER
• Duct Tape, Electrical Tape & Cable Ties are not allowed on your shoes as they come off too easily and thus become a danger to the livestock on the farm.
• Make sure you TRIPLE KNOT your laces instead.
Start Times
Unlike, say a marathon, there is not one big, mass start at HELL & BACK - instead there are a number of starting waves throughout the day with 250-400 HellRaisers in each. You choose your preferred wave start time when you register and can double check this on the Start Time Checker.
The first 16KM / 10 Mile wave on Sat 24th Feb is at 09:00, while the first 8KM wave is at 12:40.
Car Parking
All parking for HELL & BACK Winter is in the nearby IDA Business Park on Southern Cross Road. Pre-Paid Parking is available during registration at €9 per car (bring QR code). Pay on Day available @ €10 cash per car. Click here for Car Parking Plan.
Insurance
Personal Accident Cover is included in the registration fee of all participants. This cover may include benefits in the event of you incurring an injury.
Finisher's T-shirt
You can collect up your exclusive "I Made it Thru' HELL & BACK" T-shirt in the IDA Business Park before your return to your car.
Start Time Checker

Can I Change My Start Time?
This online option is now closed.
Can't Take Part?
If you or a team mate cannot take part, you can get someone to replace you by sending them your ticket/confirmation email. They collect your wristband at the Registration Tent in IDA Business Park - but then print and sign their own name.
Wristband Collection
Due to the 15 walk from IDA to Start Line, you must register and collect your Wristband AT LEAST 45 minutes before your allocated Wave Start Time.
16 & 17 Year Old Participants
All 16 & 17 year old participants must register using an special consent link emailed directly to their Parental/Guardian. Online option now closed.
Risk of Infectious Diseases
Killruddery is a working farm so be fully aware of Infectious Diseases. If you experience any symptoms after the event, contact your GP immediately. Find out more here.
Event Village in Basecamp
Complimentary cup of hot soup for all finishers in Basecamp, brought to you by The Devine Foodie. Grab a coffee and snack next door from The Little Bean.
Course Closing Times
The 16KM course is aimed at more experienced trail runners and has a closing time of 12:30 - so everyone will have at least 3 hours 15 minutes to finish. There are a number of different trails along the route so, if those towards the back do not meet strict checkpoints along the way, our marshals will direct them towards the short cuts, which will bring them quicker to the Finish Line. The average 16KM time will be approx. 3 hours.
The 8KM course, which is more relaxed and aimed at social runners, has a closing time of 16:30 - so everyone will have at least 2 hours 45 minutes to finish. Again, there are a few options if people are struggling at the back so our marshals will direct any stragglers towards the short cuts. We expect the average 8KM time will be approx. 2 hours 15 minutes.
The entire site will close at 17:00 so please make sure you bring all your belongings with you.
