HELL & BACK, is Ireland's toughest physical and mental endurance challenge, specifically designed and created by our award-winning outdoor specialists to push your physical and mental boundaries to the limit.
Set in the magnificent Killruddery Estate, this 13KM/8KM course, taking place at the start of the summer ,offers stunning views of Dublin Bay from the Little Sugar Loaf mountain.
The course combines infamous man-made obstacles with Killruddery's natural terrain, including rivers, mountains, bogs and forests, to create a uniquely terrifying challenge!

HELL & BACK 13KM/8KM on Saturday 8th June 2024 is a gruelling off-road course along man-made trail runs and mountain paths.
You'll have to progress over, under, around and through all of Killruddery's stunning natural obstacles, including bogs, hills, forests, swamps and rivers, as well as our infamous HELL & BACK obstacles, including the Heartbreak Ridge, Water Jump, Splashdown Slide, Pontoon Mania, Ice Baths, Hell on Earth and the Tyre Zone.

Start Times
Unlike, say a marathon, there is not one big, mass start at HELL & BACK - instead there are a number of starting waves throughout the day with 250-400 HellRaisers in each. You choose your preferred wave start time when you register and can double check this on the Start Time Checker.
The first adult wave of the day on Sat 8th June is 13KM at 08:30, while the last is 8KM at 15:10. Note that there is a €2 charge to go in Wave 1 and be the first ones to tackle the virgin course!

Car Parking
Weather permitting, all parking for HELL & BACK will be both onsite in Killruddery and in the nearby IDA Business Park on Southern Cross Road. Pre-Paid Parking is available during registration at €9 per car (bring QR code). Pay on Day available @ €10 cash per car.

Insurance
Personal Accident Cover is included in the registration fee of all participants. This cover may include benefits in the event of you incurring an injury.
Finisher's T-shirt
You can collect up your exclusive "I Made it Thru' HELL & BACK" T-shirt at the Finish Line.

Start Time Checker

Can I Change My Start Time?
Log into the Manage My Booking service to view the start times available and change your start time to one that is free.

Can't Take Part?
If you or a team mate cannot take part, use our Manage My Booking service to email your ticket to your replacement. Available only to Individuals and Teams that used the Syndicated Payment option to pay for tickets.

Wristband Collection
You must register and collect your Wristband AT LEAST 30 minutes before your allocated Wave Start Time.

16 & 17 Year Old Participants
All 16 & 17 year old participants must register using an special consent link emailed directly to their Parental/Guardian. Email us on registrations@aliveoutside.ie for a digital U18 consent form.

Risk of Infectious Diseases
Killruddery is a working farm so be fully aware of Infectious Diseases. If you experience any symptoms after the event, contact your GP immediately. Find out more here.

Lots of food and drink options to replenish your energy before and after your H&B run.

Course Closing Times
The course closes at 18:30, while the site closes at 19:00. Please make sure you bring all your belongings with you as you leave.

FEET
• Trial runners are best (better grip in muddy conditions)
• Astro boots also work well
• We strongly advise you do not wear normal runners or any other footwear, as the reduced grip will increase your risk of injury
• Studs, cleats, blades & spikes are NOT PERMITTED
HANDS
• Fingerless cycling gloves are best, full finger gloves will get water logged
UPPER BODY
• Base Layer – compression top
• Top Layer – Technical t-shirt (optional)
• Wear long sleeves to help protect your arms at crawl obstacles
• Avoid cotton materials!!
LEGS
• Compression leggings are recommended to help protect legs when crawling.
• Avoid flimsy material that may rip or tear.
REMEMBER
Duct Tape, Electrical Tape & Cable Ties are not allowed on your shoes as they come off too easily and thus become a danger to the livestock on the farm. Make sure you TRIPLE KNOT your laces instead.
