PREPARE TO Go to Hell!

HELL & BACK Teen is a grueling off-road 8KM course along man-made trail runs and mountain paths in the stunning Killruddery Estate.

Your teenager will have to progress over, under, around and through the infamous HELL & BACK obstacles along the 8KM route, including Water Jump, Splashdown Slide, The Black Pearl, The Wall and lots, lots more!

But don't worry - they can walk around any obstacle they are not comfortable in doing, including the water obstacles if they are a non-swimmer.

8KM course suitable 12 to 17 year olds. No adult accompaniment required.

Register a Team

Why not register a Team of 2+ consisting of your teenagers' buddies, school friends and/or team mates? Choose the "Syndicated Payment" option and forward a weblink for them to pay for their own ticket, saving you the hassle of collecting money!

What to wear

FEET
• Trial runners are best (better grip in muddy conditions)
• Astro boots also work well
• We strongly advise you do not wear normal runners or any other footwear, as the reduced grip will increase your risk of injury
• Studs, cleats, blades & spikes are NOT PERMITTED

HANDS
• Fingerless cycling gloves are best as full finger gloves may get water logged

UPPER BODY
• Base Layer – compression top
• Top Layer – Technical t-shirt (optional)
• Wear long sleeves to help protect your arms at crawl obstacles
• Avoid cotton materials!!

LEGS
• Compression leggings are recommended to help protect legs when crawling.
• Avoid flimsy material that may rip or tear.

REMEMBER
• Duct Tape, Electrical Tape & Cable Ties are not allowed on your shoes as they come off too easily and thus become a danger to the livestock on the farm.
• Make sure you TRIPLE KNOT your laces instead.

Devil Detail

Minimum Age

Children aged 12 on 8th June 2024 will be able to participate in H&B Teen 8KM unaccompanied by an adult.

Please note that they will be doing the H&B 8KM Adult course so there may be some obstacles that are not suitable for children which closed for the H&B Teen group.

Your teenager will also always have the option to walk around any obstacle they are uncomfortable with.

Swimming Requirements
The H&B Teen 8KM course usually has a number of water obstacles in the SPLASH ZONE section on the Lake in the heart of Killruddery, which may include Pontoon Mania, Water Jump and Splashdown Slide.

From a water safety perspective, everyone is fitted with a buoyancy aid when they get in the vicinity of the Lake, while our team of lifeguards patrol both from in the water on kayaks and from the bank.

If your teenager is a non-swimmer or doesn't like water, they obviously don't have to do this section and will be directed around it.

Specators can walk up to Splash Zone - simply follow the signs along the road from the Lambing Shed. Please note that the Lake is in the heart of Killruddery and approx. 15 min walk from the Event Village - so you will need to be quick afterwards if you want to get back and see everyone cross the Finish Line.

Start Times

Unlike, say a marathon, there is not one big, mass start at HELL & BACK - instead there are a number of starting waves throughout the day with 250-400 HellRaisers in each. You choose your preferred wave start time when you register and can double check this on the Start Time Checker.

There is only one H&B Teen 8KM wave on Sat 8th June and this is 15:45 so you can choose this start time when registering.

Car Parking

Weather permitting, all parking for HELL & BACK will be either onsite in Killruddery or in the nearby IDA Business Park on Southern Cross Road. Pre-Paid Parking is available during registration at €9 per car (bring QR code). Pay on Day available @ €10 cash per car.
